Recently, the new trend for mobile devices is the inclusion of “dark mode”. This feature was first introduced to some Android devices running Android 9 and later adopted by apple in their iOS 13 update.
The feature is supposedly beneficial to its users, since it saves energy. Especially if the device uses and OLED or AMOLED screen. It also helps improve text readability in the dark, hence reducing eye strain. Funny enough though there is one con to this. In bright light conditions, the texts/content on display appears washed out, this increases eye strain.
Clearly, the advantages of the dark mode out weigh the cons. Because of this app developers have sort to transition into the dark mode era. Some of the apps which already possess the feature include Twitter, Messenger, Instagram, Gmail, Telegram etc.
Whatsapp not wanting to be left out of the fun, today released a beta app update that possesses the dark mode feature. If you’re part of the Google Play Beta Program you can easily enable this dark theme by going to WhatsApp settings > Chats > Themes and then select “Dark” option. Once you enable the Dark theme, the entire interface will be in the darker shade but it is not completely black. The green color remains as it is but the white shifts to dark grey while the fonts change color from white to black.
